On September 27, 2016 UL announced its acquisition of AWS Truepower, expanding UL’s global renewable energy portfolio by strengthening full lifecycle solutions for wind and solar energy sectors. AWS Truepower is an Albany, NY-based company providing renewable energy services through five business units covering project advisory, performance engineering, due diligence, information services and grid solutions. These five units complement UL’s existing expertise in testing, inspection, certification and performance validation for renewable energy sources and associated storage technologies.
Many countries are pushing for energy independence, energy security and environmental sustainability, and AWS Truepower’s services are crucial in supporting this market which already includes hundreds of gigawatts of energy capacity. Jeffrey Smidt, VP & General Manager for UL Energy & Power Technologies, explains the alignment between the companies: “As the market for renewable energy increases and demands a full lifecycle service offering for renewable energy projects, the combined portfolios enable us to capture additional business globally.” To learn more about the acquisition or AWS Truepower, click here
